Navsari: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced today that the Southwest Monsoon 2024 has officially arrived in the state of Gujarat. The monsoon made an early onset in South Gujarat today.
Initially, the IMD had predicted the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon 2024 in the state on June 15th. However, the monsoon surprised by making an early onset on June 11th.
Ramashray Yadav, the IMD Ahmedabad regional director in-charge, stated, “Today, the Southwest Monsoon has made its onset until Navsari in South Gujarat. All the districts of Gujarat and the Saurashtra region are expected to experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms during the next 24 hours.”
On Wednesday, Light thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds of 30-40 kmph (in gusts), accompanied by light rain, are very likely at isolated places in all the districts of South Gujarat region, namely Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, as well as in Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli. Similar weather conditions are expected in the districts of North Gujarat region, namely Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar, and in the districts of Saurashtra, namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath, as well as in Diu.
