Renovated war memorial ‘Shraddhanjali Park’ unveiled at Bhuj Military Station

Bhuj: Lt. Gen. Gurbirpal Singh, DG NCC, today unveiled the recently renovated War Memorial in the presence of war veterans and local heroes who had participated in the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan. The event was organized by the Bald Eagle Brigade at Bhuj Military Station. The renovated War Memorial, named the “Shraddhanjali Park” now has two newly installed plaques on either side of the Central dome where historical accounts of the fierce battles fought at Biar Bet, Point 84 and other locations in the Rann of Kutch are etched. Paying homage to the valour and sacrifice of our fallen heroes of 1965 war, a wreath laying ceremony was organized during the occasion.

The highlight of the event was the presence of War Veterans who had fought in the 1965 Indo-Pak war in the Rann Sector. These veterans from the 3 PARA (KUMAON) and  2 SIKHLI Battalions had travelled all the way from Ludhiana and Jaipur, despite their old age and personal commitments. The event was also attended by fourteen Veeranganas of Bhuj who had helped the Indian Armed Forces in re-building the Bhuj Air Strip during the 1971 war leading to a decisive turn of events in our favour.
