Dwarka: Saurashtra’s Salaya town, which has over 95% of its population as Muslims, witnessed the municipal election last Sunday for 28 seats. After counting today, the Congress party has been declared the winner with 15 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party secured the remaining 13 seats. Among the winning candidates, the majority are Muslims, with only 2 being Hindus.
In the last local body elections held in 2018, Congress managed to wrest power with 24 seats, while the BJP secured 4 seats.
