Surat: The Anti Corruptio Bureau (ACB) Gujarat today nabbed four persons including a Class-1 officer in three cases of bribery.
ACB today nabbed an accomplice of the Assistant Director of the Flying Squad of the Mines & Minerals Department in a bribe case involving a sum of Rs. 2,00,000. The complainant in the case was engaged in soil digging work in the Bhata area after obtaining a royalty permit. The main accused, Nareshbhai Jani, Assistant Director (Class 1 Officer) of the Flying Squad, Mines Department, along with accused Kapilbhai Parasottambhai, demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,00,000 from the complainant to allow the operation to continue without any hindrance. As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Following a complaint to the ACB, a bribe trap was set, and accused Kapilbhai was caught accepting the bribe. He has been detained, and the investigation continues regarding accused Nareshbhai, who is still at large.
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat today also nabbed Jignesh Patel, a clerk in the Assessment Department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) South Zone, and another clerk, Mehul Patel, from the same department in a bribe case. The accused clerks had demanded a bribe of Rs. 35,000 for the requisition procedure of a house. The accused were trapped by the ACB in response to the complainant’s report.
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat also nabbed a 57-year-old electric contractor from Umargam in Valsad district in a bribe case involving a sum of Rs. 12,300. Accused Dineshbhai, also known as Devendra Karachiwala, is an electrical contractor. A complainant approached the ACB and informed them that the accused was demanding a Rs. 12,300 bribe in the name of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL)’s Deputy Superintendent Engineer for a new power connection for which the complainant had filed an online application.
