ISKCON Pure Veg Restaurant Govinda Disrupted as Man Brings and Eats Meat, Provoking Outrage
July 20, 2025
The Online World – A video of an incident at the Govinda vegetarian restaurant, operated by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), has sparked a wave of criticism and emotional responses across social media platforms.
The viral video shows, a man identified as an African-British youth entered the premises of the well-known pure vegetarian restaurant, which follows strict dietary principles in line with Hindu religious values. The man knowingly asked the staff if they served meat. After being informed that they did not, he reportedly opened a takeaway box from a popular fast-food chain (KFC), began eating chicken, and allegedly offered it to others dining or working in the restaurant.
While ISKCON or the Govinda restaurant management has not released an official statement, videos and posts about the incident have drawn strong reactions online.
One user wrote:
“This young African-British man walked into ISKCON’s Govinda restaurant, fully aware that it’s a vegetarian place. He asked if they had any meat, then pulled out his KFC box and not only ate chicken (chewing loudly), but also offered it to others who were working or eating there. It was a total nightmare for everyone inside.”
Another post questioned the larger implications of the act:
“What should we call this? Is it racism or simply hate against Hindus?”
“Would he dare to do the same in a Muslim-owned restaurant? Bring in pork chops, eat them there, and offer them to others? You know what would happen. You know there would be outrage worldwide. But when it happens to Hindus, no one seems to care.”
Horrendous. 😳😡

The incident has reignited debates around religious sensitivity, respect for sacred or culturally significant spaces, and perceptions of unequal responses when similar actions affect different communities.
As of this report, no police complaint has been filed, and the identity of the individual involved has not been independently verified.DeshGujarat
