Porbandar: Over 685 artists from the North Eastern states received a warm welcome at Nadiad railway station as they arrived for the Madhavpur Ghed Fair 2025 in Porbandar district. The artists, representing 28 teams from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, were greeted with traditional drum beats, floral garlands, and ceremonial tilak by local officials.
To ensure smooth transportation, the government had arranged a special Kamakhya-Ahmedabad train, which reached Nadiad station at 3:00 AM on March 28. From there, the artists were escorted under tight police security in 20 AC buses to Nal Sarovar Resort.
The artists will showcase a diverse range of cultural performances, including Bihu Naach, Bhortal, Chutkei, Hojaigiri, Wangala, Sema War Dance, and many more at the fair, which will take place from April 1 to 10. Sushma Yonzone, an artist associated with the Singicham art form, expressed excitement about performing in Gujarat and praised the state government for its seamless travel arrangements.
The welcome ceremony was attended by Nadiad Prant Officer Nirbhay Gondaliya, District Youth Development Officer Akshay Makwana, and Railway PSI D.N. Patel, among others. The Madhavpur Ghed Fair, known for celebrating the legendary union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini, continues to foster cultural ties under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. DeshGujarat
