Delhi: Gujarat has the highest number of functional dialysis centers and hemodialysis machines in India as of June 30, 2024. The state has 270 functional dialysis centers and 1303 hemodialysis machines under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP). 

All 33 districts of Gujarat have functional dialysis services. Gujarat’s 270 dialysis centers and 1,303 hemodialysis machines far exceed the numbers in other states. Tamil Nadu has the second-highest number of functional dialysis centers, with 139 centers. In terms of hemodialysis machines, Kerala is second with 1,176 machines. 

States/UTs-wise status of Hemodialysis Machines under PMNDP as of 30th June 2024 is as follows: 

The PMNDP, launched in 2016-17, provides free dialysis services for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under the National Health Mission (NHM). The PMNDP supports dialysis services in both public-private partnership (PPP) mode and in-house mode. 

The program is operational in all 36 States/UTs across 748 districts with a total of 1,495 centers and 10,183 hemodialysis machines. As of June 30, 2024, the program has conducted 2.81 crore hemodialysis sessions.

The PMNDP portal, launched on May 5, 2022, integrates all operational dialysis centers under NHM and supports portability of services nationwide. The portal is linked with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID.
