Juhapura based doctor files extortion complaint against builder; two arrested

Ahmedabad: Juhapura based doctor has filed a complaint at Vejalpur police station on Thursday accusing Mushir Sheikh, owner of Yushra Developers, and four others for demanding Rs 50 lakh as extortion/protection money from him. Complainant Dr. Ashraf has alleged the accused threatened him to sell his Rs 3 crore bungalow for Rs 50 lakh or pay the amount to ensure safety in Juhapura.
Dr. Ashraf Roshansha Diwan, aged 62 named Mushtaq Ismail Qureshi along with Firojkaka, Firdous Mulla, Raju, and another person in his complaint. He said he has known Mushtaq Qureshi for 25 years. Mushir had been pressuring him for the past decade to sell his bungalow at a fraction of its value. When Dr. Ashraf refused, the accused began to harass him.
A month and a half ago, the situation escalated when Dr. Ashraf was called to Mushir Sheikh’s house under the pretense of visiting a sick patient. On reaching, Mushir threatened the doctor with a gun and demanded ransom from him.
Moreover, on Thursday at 11:15 am, an unidentified person at Dr. Ashraf’s clinic warned him about the Rs 50 lakh demand, threatening him with dire consequences. Two arrests have been made in connection with the case, with investigations ongoing at Vejalpur police station. DeshGujarat
