75 NCC cadets participate in 245 km Porbandar – Diu boat expedition

Porbandar: 75 cadets have joined the Porbandar – Diu 245 km long Saurashtra Naukayan Abhiyan. The cadets will complete Porbandar – Diu sea journey in 10 days. Earlier such expedition would be organized at Tappar dam in Gandhidham, but for the first time it is being held in the sea by Naval NCC group headquarter Jamnagar and Seventh Gujarat Naval NCC.
Cadets after leaving Porbandar would take halts at Navi Bandar, Madhavpur, Mangrol, Veraval, Mul Dwarka etc places on the coast of Saurashtra before reaching Diu on 1st of March. The participants took 20 days training before joining this expedition. All participants know swimming. In fact they went through a swimming camp before joining this expedition.
The boats selected for this expedition are DK Whaler boats and Jemini boats. Life jackets, ropes, lifebuoy ring etc are part of the kits given to participants. According to NCC Jamnagar Group Commander Colonel HK SIngh, special types of DK Whaler boats are used in this expedition.
