AMC opens latest shelter-house for homeless people in Chandkheda

Chandkheda: A new shelter-house for homeless people was inaugurated at Chandkheda under the Government of India’s DAY-NULM scheme’s SUH component by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on December 25. It is located opposite Utsav duplex near Nandan Sky.

A round-the-clock functioning shelter house is made at a cost of Rs. 6 crore. It can accommodate 518 persons.

AMC has appointed an organization to manage this shelter house. AMC will pay the organization through grants and also offer evening meals from its budget.

The night shelter has a two-tire bed, water heater, lift, first aid kit, fire safety, ventilated rooms separate for women and gents, water cooler, bathroom, toilet, lighting, bedsheet, blankets, cleaning, kitchen, utensils, gas connection, etc.

AMC in a note shared these details and also added that 30 such shelters are operating by AMC in the city limits with 2209 capacity. The shelters maintain 85 percent occupancy as per AMC note. DeshGujarat
