Surendranagar: An arrest warrant has been issued against BJP MLA Hardik Patel by a court in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district for not appearing in a 2017 case where he is accused of violating a government order by making a political speech at a village ahead of the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections.
The additional chief judicial magistrate directed the police to arrest Patel and present him in court without fail. Patel and a co-accused were found to have violated the condition of the permission granted to them to organize a meeting at the village in the district.
They were booked under sections 37 (3) and 135 of the Gujarat (Bombay) Police Act, 1951. Patel, who previously headed the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, has faced numerous cases, including two sedition cases, in Gujarat, and joined the BJP in 2019. DeshGujarat
