Major fire in Deepak Nitrite plant at Nandesari GIDC

Vadodara: A major fire erupted at the plant of Deepak Nitrite in the Nandesari-GIDC area of Vadodara on Thursday evening.
Fire brigade units were rushed to the scene and are still trying to bring the fire under control. According to reports, seven people have been rescued by Fire Brigade.
Parth Bhrambhatt, Fire Chief Officer told the media, “The primary situation seems to be that fire is there in some laboratory that is surrounded by the 1000 & 5000-litre container of IP solution… no death has been reported so far, and six teams are working and latest vehicle to control the fire.”
A blast started the fire in one of the manufacturing units, which could be heard for several kilometres and the smoke undulating from the plant soon engulfed the whole neighbourhood.
Several teams of cops had to be deployed at the spot and they cordoned off the roads leading to the firm.
Deepak Nitrite was established 50 years ago and it is one of the major chemical companies in the region. the firm makes organic, inorganic, fine and speciality chemicals. It has its manufacturing plants in Vadodara and Dahej in Gujarat.
