Gujarat declares mucormycosis an epidemic

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said the State government has decided to declare mucormycosis disease as epidemic.
This decision under the Epidemic Disease Act 1857 was taken in a core group meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
In this reference, now government and private hospitals and medical colleges will have to follow the guidelines declared by ICMR and Health department of the Government of India for screening, diagnosis and treatment of this disease which is also known as Black fungus disease. The details of suspected and confirmed cases of this disease will need to be sent to the Government of India regularly. DeshGujarat
