Closure of Tapi Bridge on Ahmedabad–Mumbai Highway Extended till Aug 20
August 15, 2025
Surat: The repair work on the expansion joint of the Tapi Bridge on the National Highway-48 section between Bharuch and Surat is still incomplete. As a result, Additional District Magistrate Vijay Rabari has issued a notice extending the closure and diversion period until 20 August 2025.
During this period, heavy vehicles traveling from Bharuch to Surat will be diverted to an alternative route instead of using the left side of the bridge. According to the notice, heavy vehicles will be diverted via the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway (Package-6). However, two-wheelers are not permitted on the expressway and will continue to use the currently operational other bridge over the river.
Meanwhile, vehicles traveling from Bharuch to Surat using the right side of the bridge will continue to follow the existing route. The decision aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order. The Additional District Magistrate has warned that anyone violating this order will face legal action and be held accountable. DeshGujarat
