Bhikhubhai set an example of being an ideal citizen: Bihar BJP chief on Tejashwi’s Gujaratis in Bihar barb

Patna: BJP state spokesperson Manoj Sharma has hit back at Tejashwi Yadav over his remarks on Bihar BJP organisational general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya being a voter from Patna. Sharma said Dalsaniya had cancelled his Gujarat voter ID and obtained one in Patna, thereby setting an example of being “an ideal citizen of the country.”
The political slugfest in Bihar intensified on Wednesday, 13 August, after former deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav alleged a “large-scale conspiracy” by the BJP, in collusion with the Election Commission of India (ECI), to tamper with voter rolls ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Citing Dalsaniya’s case, Yadav claimed that people from Gujarat were being added to Bihar’s voter lists in violation of the ‘one person, one vote’ principle. “Now the people of Gujarat are becoming voters of Bihar. Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya, who is in charge of the BJP, has become a voter of Patna. He cast his last vote in Gujarat in 2024, but he is still a voter of Patna,” Yadav said.
Sharma, however, defended Dalsaniya, stating that he had legally cancelled his Gujarat voter ID before registering in Patna, where he has lived for the past five years, in full compliance with constitutional provisions. Calling him “an ideal citizen,” Sharma accused Yadav of attempting to divert attention from his own political setbacks.
He further alleged that Yadav was trying to “win elections with the help of infiltrators” and had “accepted defeat even before the polls.” DeshGujarat
