Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit his home state of Gujarat on August 24 and 25, with a packed itinerary that includes inaugurations and public events in Vadnagar, Becharaji, and Ahmedabad.
Even though there has not been an official announcement about this visit, Modi is expected to visit his hometown Vadnagar to inaugurate a newly built multi-modal transport hub. He is also likely to visit the Suzuki Motors plant near Becharaji, where he could inaugurate the company’s new battery-powered vehicle production unit. Reports suggest that the company intends to export electric vehicles manufactured at this plant to Europe, and the PM is likely to flag off the first shipment.
While the Prime Minister’s Office has not yet released an official detailed programme, preliminary preparations are underway. As per the tentative schedule, Modi will arrive in Ahmedabad on the afternoon of August 24 and stay at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. There are also reports that he might hold meetings with senior Gujarat government officials and BJP leaders during his night halt in Ahmedabad.
Furthermore, the visit is expected to include the formal inauguration of the newly built Naranpura Sports Complex, constructed at a cost of ₹800 crore. The state-of-the-art facility will host the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship from August 24 to 30, marking its first major event, and PM Modi is likely to inaugurate it on August 24.
