Gujarat Police procures 2 Deep Tracker underwater ROVs; used in Gambhira Bridge rescue ops

Vadodara: Gujarat Police is enhancing the state’s security by maximizing the use of technology. In a recent step, the state police procured two advanced ‘Deep Tracker Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles’ at a cost of Rs. 2.80 crore as a pilot project. One of these vehicles has been assigned to Vadodara and the other to Rajkot.

This highly portable Deep Tracker vehicle can operate up to 200 meters underwater and is capable of search, evidence recovery, tracking, and surveillance.

Recently, Gujarat Police deployed this technology during the search and rescue operation following the Gambhira Bridge collapse. In this operation, a specially trained team from Vadodara Police used the advanced ‘Deep Tracker Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle’.

Despite the murky river water, the vehicle performed efficiently. It significantly aided the police in locating vehicles and other evidence submerged underwater. During the operation, a bike and some crucial parts were successfully recovered using the Deep Tracker’s camera and grabber arm.

This incident demonstrated that the Deep Tracker vehicle is extremely valuable to the police, not only for serious crime scene investigations and evidence recovery but also for search and rescue operations.
