Bharuch: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed Kalpeshkumar Bachubhai Patel, in-charge principal of the Government Secondary School in Sarasad, Jhagadia taluka, Bharuch district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹31,000.
According to ACB officials, the complainant, who operates an Eeco van, had been contracted under the School Transport Scheme to ferry students to and from the school. The accused allegedly demanded a commission of ₹3,000 per month from the transport bills. This included ₹9,000 for three months of the complainant’s service in the current year, ₹13,000 related to another witness’s Maruti van service in 2024, and another ₹9,000 for three months of service in 2025, totalling ₹31,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. Based on the complaint, the ACB set up a trap operation inside the premises of the Government Secondary School in Sarasad. During the trap, the accused was caught accepting the bribe amount. The entire ₹31,000 was recovered from him on the spot. The accused has been detained, and further investigation is underway.
