Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam over 75% full; Gujarat completes 64% average monsoon rain

Gandhinagar: As of 10:00 a.m. this morning, Gujarat has received 567.82 mm of rainfall this monsoon season, which is 64.39% of the state’s seasonal average. Additionally, the lifeline of Gujarat, the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River, is over 75% full, with a current storage of 252,399 mcft of water.
According to data from the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), the southern region continues to lead in rainfall, with 68.79% of its seasonal average achieved, followed by central and northern Gujarat at 66.54% and 66.21%, respectively. Saurashtra has received 56.31% and Kutch 65.13% of their seasonal averages.
In the past 24 hours, 48 talukas across 19 districts recorded rainfall, averaging 2.82 mm statewide. Heavy showers were reported in Valsad district — Valsad town (102 mm), Pardi (100 mm), Umbergaon (67 mm), and Vapi (61 mm). Chikhli in Navsari district received 42 mm. Meanwhile, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. today, Vapi recorded 11 mm, while Pardi, Upleta, Jalalpore, and Khergam each received 6 mm.
As of 8:00 a.m. today, the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam holds 252,399 mcft of water, which is 75.55% of its total storage capacity. Inflow stands at 67,639 cusecs, with an outflow of 55,607 cusecs into the river. The state’s 206 other reservoirs collectively hold 388,411 mcft of water, or 69.62% of their total capacity. Of these, 31 reservoirs are at 100% storage, 72 are between 70–100%, and 33 are below 25%.
As per the SEOC, 52 dams in the state are on high alert, including Dahatrvadi, Shetrunji, and Nyari-2, while 25 dams are on alert and 26 are on warning status. Among those on alert are Aji-1, Aji-3, Dharoi, Sukhi, and Dholidhaja dams. Dams on warning status include Aji-2, Bhadar-2, Kadana, Hathmati, and Ukai, as they are filled to over 70% of their capacity.
Among the major dams, Dharoi is 87% full, Hathmati is at 76%, Sukhi is over 86% full, and both Watrak and Machchhu-1 are over 60% full. Kadana Dam is at 78% of its capacity, Panam is 84% full, Ukai Dam is 70% full with an inflow of 15,000 cusecs, and Daman Ganga Dam, which has an inflow of over 2,800 cusecs, is nearly 61% full.
However, one of the largest dams, Sipu, is only 11.81% of its gross storage capacity, and Dantiwada has also not crossed 30% of its capacity as of today. Both of these dams are in North Gujarat. DeshGujarat
