Indore: A Muslim youth named Sohil reportedly deceived a Hindu girl by posing as a Hindu on social media and lured her to Gujarat under the pretext of marriage. Before the wedding, he allegedly raped her in a hotel. Subsequently, he pressured her to convert to Islam, claiming that paradise could only be attained through the religion.

According to police, Sohil first made the girl recite the Kalma in the presence of a Maulvi, then conducted the Nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony). An FIR has been registered against Sohil, the Maulvi, and eight others in connection with this alleged case of love jihad.

The victim, a resident of Nandanagar, befriended Sohil three years ago on social media, where he used the false name ‘Fighter Rajput’ and pretended to be Hindu. After about a year, Sohil proposed marriage and asked her to leave her home. The girl left with ₹3 lakh, her mark sheets, Aadhaar card, and clothes.

On June 21, Sohil took her to Ahmedabad, where they stayed together in a hotel for two days, during which he allegedly had physical relations with her. Later, he took her to his home in the National Mill area of Ahmedabad, where the victim signed a contract in Gujarati.

Sohil and his family members—including his mother Shama Naz Fatima, father Shakir Iqbal, brother Nadeem Akhtar, Yasir Sahwar, Sharik, Nadeem, sister-in-law Gulfsha, and sister Zareen—continuously pressured the victim to accept Islam.
