Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed PSI M.G. Limbola of Sarthana Police Station for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.
According to details, a criminal case had been registered at Sarthana Police Station against the complainant’s maternal aunt’s son and his friend. PSI M.G. Limbola was investigating the case. During the course of the investigation, the officer allegedly demanded ₹40,000 from the complainant to avoid assaulting the accused and to facilitate their early release on bail.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. Acting on the complaint, the ACB planned a trap on Wednesday. The operation was carried out in the surveillance staff office of Sarthana Police Station, where PSI Limbola engaged in conversation with the complainant and accepted the ₹40,000 bribe. He was caught red-handed by the ACB team at that very moment. The bribe amount has also been recovered from him.
