Platform No. 6 of Udhna Railway Station to remain shut for 45 days
August 05, 2025
Surat: Western Railway has announced a 45-day mega block on Platform No. 6 of Udhna Railway Station starting August 5, to carry out height elevation work. During this period, the platform will remain completely closed, and the trains that typically arrive at or depart from this platform will be operated from alternate platforms at Udhna.
Platform No. 6 was inaugurated in January this year. However, during the Holi and summer vacation rush, passengers faced severe inconvenience due to the low height of the platform. This led to widespread complaints and media coverage. Since the current period is considered off-season, there is no police bandobast, and passengers are finding it difficult—and in some cases unsafe—to board trains, resulting in minor accidents.
According to the Senior Divisional Operations Manager of Western Railway’s Mumbai Division, work to raise the height of the platform will begin on August 5. Several trains that usually terminate at Udhna will be relocated to Surat during the project. These include:
-
19001 Virar–Surat Express
-
22827 Puri–Udhna Express
-
69170 Nandurbar–Udhna MEMU
-
12935 Bandra Terminus–Udhna Intercity Express
-
69178 Nandurbar–Udhna MEMU
Train Operations Shifted to Other Platforms
To minimize inconvenience to passengers, Western Railway has revised the platform assignments for several trains. Trains previously operating on Platform No. 6 will now run from Platforms 2, 3, 4, or 5.
Some of the affected trains include:
-
Udhna–Danapur Express
-
Udhna–Puri Express
-
Udhna–Banaras Express
-
Udhna–Palghar MEMU
-
Trains heading towards Bhusaval and Nandurbar
Passengers are advised to check updated platform information before travel and cooperate with railway authorities during the mega block period.
Change in Intercity Express Halts
Additionally, the Udhna–Bandra Intercity Express (12935/12936) will no longer halt at Udhna Station from August 7 and will instead operate from Surat Station.
Revised Schedule:
-
12935 Intercity Express → Arrives at Surat Station at 10:35 AM (instead of Udhna Jn)
-
12936 Intercity Express → Departs from Surat Station at 4:25 PM (instead of Udhna Jn)
