Surat police bust liquor party at hotel in Dumas area; 6 including 2 women nabbed

Surat: In an unusual incident in Surat, a father-in-law, frustrated by his daughter-in-law’s liquor party with friends, called the police control room — which led to a surprise raid at the Weekend Address Hotel in the Silent Zone area near Dumas. During the raid, six individuals, including two women, were found partying with alcohol and were subsequently booked by Dumas Police.

According to the FIR filed at Dumas Police Station, one Kiran Kumar Hargovindbhai Patel informed the police control room that his son’s wife, Mosam, along with her friends, was hosting a liquor party in Room No. 443 of the Weekend Address Hotel.

Following the tip-off, a police team raided the location and found four men and two women sitting on the floor and consuming liquor. Police confirmed the presence of liquor by its strong smell, and none of those present could produce valid liquor permits.

During the search, police seized a 750 ml bottle of Ballantine’s Finest Blended Scotch Whisky (with approximately 350 ml remaining) valued at ₹1,500. Additionally, four plastic glasses containing a yellowish liquid, four empty plastic glasses, and seven mobile phones collectively worth around ₹2,55,000 were recovered. The total value of the seized items was estimated at ₹2,56,500.

According to police, the group had planned to gather at a single location to consume liquor and had assisted each other in committing the offence.

A formal complaint has been registered against them under Sections 66(1)(B), 65(A)(A), 81, and 83(A) of the Gujarat Prohibition Amendment Ordinance (2016). Further investigation is ongoing.
