Video of foreign students lounging on road in Rajkot village stirs row

Rajkot: In yet another incident involving foreign students of Marwadi University, a video has gone viral. The footage shows two students of the university, who reside in Ratanpar village, engaging in objectionable acts on a public road. The video shows a male and female African student of the university hugging and cuddling openly in the middle of the village road, sparking outrage among residents.

This latest video comes just weeks after villagers had accused these students of being involved in prostitution, claiming their activities were causing inconvenience and distress in the area.

Residents of Ratanpar village approached Rajkot (Rural) MLA Dr. Darshita Shah to complain about the alleged misconduct of these foreign students. Following this, on Thursday, MLA Dr. Darshita Shah, accompanied by locals from Ratanpar and nearby areas, submitted a formal representation to Police Commissioner Brajesh Kumar Jha. Villagers have accused some of the foreign students of being involved in illegal activities.

The representation also demanded an investigation into whether the rented houses occupied by these students have valid rental agreements, and whether landlords have properly informed the local police, as required by law.

Notably, this is not the first time Marwadi University has faced controversy involving foreign students. In a previous incident, marijuana plants were reportedly found on the university premises, and an NDPS Act case was registered at the Kuwadva Road police station.

Police have assured that they will look into allegations of drug use and other criminal activities involving foreign students, as well as verify rental documentation and landlords’ compliance with legal requirements. DeshGujarat
