Chinese error message causes brief panic at Ahmedabad Metro station; GMRC denies hacking
August 01, 2025
Ahmedabad: A brief moment of panic gripped commuters at the Rabari Colony station on Ahmedabad Metro’s East-West corridor on Thursday afternoon after a display screen flashed a “404 error” message accompanied by Chinese characters, and the announcement system suddenly shut down. Despite the confusion, metro services remained unaffected and continued without any delay.
The unusual error display sparked speculation among passengers about a possible cyberattack. However, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) officials clarified that there was no security breach. The issue occurred around 1 PM and was traced to a temporary malfunction in the public information display system, which uses Chinese hardware. DeshGujarat
