Amreli: In a surprising chain of events, three lion cubs have died within three days in Amreli. Two of these cubs passed away on July 28, while another died yesterday on July 30.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, the Forest Department has isolated three lionesses and six cubs, whose blood samples will be collected and sent for analysis. In an official statement, Forest Minister Mulubhai Bera said that veterinary doctors from Junagadh have been dispatched to assist forest officials. Bera added that “the exact cause of the cubs’ deaths will be determined once the final report is available.”
According to Deputy Conservator of Forests (Shetrunji Wildlife Division) Dhananjay Sadhu, two of the now-deceased cubs had been rescued near Kagvadar village in Jafrabad taluka of Amreli after being abandoned by their mothers. However, despite receiving treatment, they succumbed to weakness and pneumonia. DeshGujarat
