Another town in Gujarat may get Vande Bharat Express train connectivity
July 30, 2025
Navsari: Is Navsari going to get connectivity of Vande Bharat Express train on Ahmedabad – Mumbai route? There’s no official announcement or decision in this regard yet, but those who were part of the delegation that met with the Railway Minister under the leadership of Navsari Lok Sabha representative CR Patil, said the demand for the same was made in the meeting and the Railway Minister reacted positively.
It’s worth noting that Navsari is district headquarters and located just next to the city of Surat. While Surat has connectivity of Vande Bharat Express train, it is unlikely that at very near distance Navsari may get it. Recently railways have given experimental halt of Vande Bharat Express train to Valsad which has resulted into two halts in Valsad district – Valsad and Vapi. The other district headquarters covered by Vande Bharat Express on Ahmedabad – Mumbai route are Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara and Surat.
A delegation of Navsari parliamentary area under the leadership of local MP and union minister CR Patil met with union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the national capital. Patil in his tweet stated – ‘on this occasion, various important demands and suggestions related to further strengthening and modernizing the rail infrastructure of South Gujarat, improving passenger amenities and increasing the rail connectivity of the region were discussed in detail.’

While Patil didn’t mention any specifics of the discussion in the meeting, those attended it told media persons that halt of Vande Bharat Express at Navsari was one of the demands discussed and the Railway Minister gave positive response to it.
It’s worth noting that in the original route of Gandhinagar – Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express train, Anand was not a stoppage, however due to efforts of the local MP Mitesh Patel, the halt at Anand was given for Vande Bharat. Similarly due to efforts of local MP of Valsad Dhaval Patel, the halt at Valsad was granted and executed recently. If Navsari is granted the halt of Vande Bharat Express train, then Nadiad (the district headquarters of Kheda) and Bharuch will be the only two district headquarters without Vande Bharat connectivity on Ahmedabad – Mumbai route.
The introduction of more halts due to political insistence has attracted criticism on social media, as it increases the journey-time by a few minutes. While Railways has refrained from making any change in the schedule of the morning Vande Bharat which connects Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central, the additional and experimental halts are granted in the case of the afternoon Vande Bharat which connects Gandhinagar capital to Mumbai. Two such halts are Anand and Valsad. DeshGujarat
