EV giant VinFast launches retail operations in India; opens showroom in Gujarat

Surat: VinFast Auto India, the Indian subsidiary of global EV leader VinFast, has officially launched its retail operations in India by opening its first showroom in Surat. This new facility will display VinFast’s upcoming premium electric SUVs — the VF6 and VF7 — and will offer end‑to‑end services, including product demonstrations, purchase assistance, and after‑sales support.

The retail launch, in collaboration with Chandan Car, comes just ahead of the inauguration of VinFast’s $2‑billion manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, which is scheduled for early August. “The first VinFast Showroom in Surat, Gujarat, is a symbol of our deep commitment to India,” said Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia.

As part of its expansion strategy, VinFast aims to set up 35 dealerships across more than 27 cities by the end of this year. Pre‑bookings for the VF6 and VF7 models opened on July 15, allowing customers to reserve their vehicles either at VinFast showrooms or online through VinFastAuto.in, with a fully refundable booking fee of ₹21,000.

This comes after, recently Elon Musk’s Tesla made its entry into the Indian market by opening its showroom in the financial capital, Mumbai.

To support its entry into the Indian market, VinFast has partnered with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to establish a nationwide charging and after‑sales service network. The company has also teamed up with clean‑tech firm BatX Energies to promote battery recycling and create a circular battery value chain.

Additionally, VinFast is exploring EV charging infrastructure through its subsidiary V‑Green and potential collaborations with other providers. DeshGujarat
