Centre shares progess update on Ahmedabad – Rajkot Six-Lane Highway

New Delhi: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today shared an update on the progress of the Ahmedabad–Rajkot six-lane highway project, which is being developed by the Government of Gujarat. According to details provided by the state government, significant portions of the highway have been completed, while a few sections remain under construction.

In a reply to a question during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, Gadkari stated that the project, divided into five main sections, covers over 190 kilometers. In the first 40 km section from Ahmedabad to Bagodara, the main carriageway has been completed, and work on the service road is currently underway. Similarly, in the Bagodara to Limbdi stretch (43 km), the main carriageway is finished, and service road construction is in progress.

Furthermore, in the 38.95 km long section between Limbdi and Sayla, the main carriageway has been completed, with ongoing miscellaneous work on the service road and junction improvements.

Now, in the last two sections, only some key works remain pending. From Sayla to Bamanbore (37.62 km), about 37 km has been completed, while work on two minor bridges is still underway.

Meanwhile, in the Rajkot to Bamanbore section (30.58 km), approximately 28.38 km has been completed, with work on the Hadario Major Bridge, Kuvadva Flyover, and the toll plaza still in progress.

The project, with a combined contract value exceeding ₹2,100 crore, aims to significantly improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and Rajkot, reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion on one of Gujarat’s key economic corridors.

According to officials, once the remaining structures and service roads are completed, the entire stretch will be fully operational, offering smoother and safer travel for commuters and freight alike. DeshGujarat
