Stray Dog Menace: Ahmedabad Metro Rail Power Supply Halted for 15 Minutes
July 26, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a rare operation on Thursday morning, metro rail authorities briefly halted power supply on the tracks for 15 minutes to rescue a dog that had been trapped on the metro line for several days.
The dog was first spotted on the tracks at Koba metro station on Monday, but darkness made it impossible to rescue it safely. It resurfaced again near Usmanpura metro station on Wednesday, but could not be saved then either due to poor lighting conditions. Eventually, the dog made its way back towards Koba village.
On Thursday, in coordination with the Uttarayan Foundation’s Mission Safe team, metro officials temporarily stopped the power supply to carry out the rescue operation. The dog was rescued from the tracks and handed over to CNCD Ahmedabad for medical care.
The operation, which briefly disrupted metro services, brought relief to metro officials. DeshGujarat
