Rahul Gandhi visits Gujarat; addresses newly appointed district unit chiefs in Anand

Anand: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi began his one-day visit to Gujarat on Saturday by addressing the state’s newly appointed district unit presidents. Gandhi landed at Vadodara airport in the morning and headed directly to Anand, where a three-day training camp for Congress workers — mainly district unit chiefs — is being held.

As the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi addressed the gathering under the ‘Sangathan Sujan Abhiyan,’ an initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational structure, according to a post by the Gujarat Congress on X.

Speaking at the party event, Rahul called the ECI “biased” and underlined the need to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its core stronghold of Gujarat.

The training camp, organised at a resort near Anand, focuses on preparing the party for the 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections and will conclude on July 28.

Earlier, the party said the camp is meant to lay out a detailed strategy for its ‘Mission 2027’. Later, Gandhi also met with cooperative sector leaders and dairy farmers associated with various milk unions and dairies.

This meeting comes in the wake of a recent protest by dairy farmers outside Sabar Dairy in Himmatnagar, north Gujarat, demanding better milk procurement prices.

Furthermore, the LoP also met with the victims and kin of the victims of the Gambhira bridge collapse tragedy that claimed 21 lives.
