Bribe for PM Awas Yojana Work; ACB Gujarat nabs Taluka Panchayat’s Work Manager

Gandhinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today successfully trapped a works manager from the Mansa Taluka Panchayat, Zankhitkumar Mahendrabhai Rawal, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,500. The arrest followed a complaint from an alert citizen, preventing further corruption in a government housing scheme.

The incident unfolded near the Bus Stand at Maharaja Pan Parlour in Mansa, Gandhinagar, where the trap was laid. According to ACB officials, the complainant’s father had been sanctioned a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with an installment of Rs. 50,000 already deposited for its construction, for which Rawal allegedly demanded the bribe, which the complainant was unwilling to pay.

Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB sprang into action. During the sting operation, Rawal engaged in a purposeful conversation with the complainant and accepted the bribe money. He was immediately apprehended by the waiting ACB team. The full bribe amount of Rs. 3,500 was successfully recovered from the accused. Rawal has been detained, and further legal action is being taken against him.

The operation was led by Trapping Officer  D.A. Chaudhary, assisted by M.M. Solanki, Police Inspector, Gandhinagar ACB Post, and their team. The entire operation was supervised by A.K. Parmar, Assistant Director, ACB, Gandhinagar Unit. DeshGujarat
