Toll collection suspended on 28.7 km stretch of Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway
July 15, 2025
Jamnagar: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has temporarily suspended toll collection on a 28.71-km stretch of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway starting Tuesday, due to ongoing repair work.
This toll suspension applies to Package-4 of the Sanchore-Santalpur section (NH-754K), part of the Bharatmala project. In a statement, NHAI confirmed that toll collection was halted from 8 a.m. and will remain suspended until the maintenance is completed, to ensure minimal disruption for commuters.
Spanning 125 km, the Sanchore-Santalpur corridor connects Rajasthan to Gujarat’s Patan district and is a key economic route. The Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, part of the broader Bharatmala initiative, aims to boost inter-regional connectivity and improve access to western ports like Jamnagar, Kandla, and Mundra, enhancing trade efficiency for landlocked northern states.
The toll exemption provides temporary relief to motorists and logistics operators while the road is being upgraded for long-term safety and durability. Gujarat, known for its rapidly expanding expressway network, continues to lead in infrastructure development.
Recently, a video showing the deteriorated condition of this road section went viral. Following this, the NHAI barred the contractor, M/s CDS Infra Projects Limited, from participating in ongoing and future bids due to the failure of the pavement crust.
The Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, currently under construction, will span more than 1,300 km across five states, with nearly 300 km in Gujarat, connecting major industrial hubs including Patan and Jamnagar. DeshGujarat
