Rs. 38 crore White Topping Road works completed in Gandhinagar: Gujarat Govt

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government had approved the works of ‘white topping’ roads worth a total of Rs. 38 crore in Gandhinagar. This includes the 6.20 km long Koba – Adalj Link Road, and the 2.80 km long Sargasan – Rakshashakti Circle Road. The work of white topping of both these roads has been completed, said the State government in a release today.

The government in its note added that – ‘the life span of a white topping road is 20 years. White topping is applied on the existing asphalt surface. This technique is economically easier than RCC road. This method is considered more beneficial than resurfacing of asphalt. A 20 cm layer of concrete is applied on the asphalt surface of the road. Which is a different method from asphalt and RCC work.’

‘Due to the high flow of water during the monsoon season, patches appear in asphalt roads even though they are made with quality and intensive supervision. In such a situation, white topping technique is considered beneficial. The road that has undergone white topping has now been started for vehicular traffic, as stated in the list of the Road and Building Department,’ the Government stated in its release. DeshGujarat
