IMD issues orange alert for very heavy rain in few districts of Gujarat on July 13–14

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a spell of heavy to very heavy rain across Gujarat for the next five days, with an orange alert issued for July 13 and 14 in a few districts. The weather department has warned of localized heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds of 30–40 kmph across many regions.

Till 8:30 am on Sunday, heavy rains are very likely to lash Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar, while the rest of the state may witness light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.

On July 13, an orange alert for very heavy rain has been issued for Aravalli and Mahisagar districts. In addition, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bhavnagar, and Amreli may also experience heavy rainfall.

On July 14, only Sabarkantha and Aravalli are under an orange alert for very heavy rain. Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Navsari, Valsad, as well as Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli, are also expected to receive heavy rain.

On July 15, though no orange alert has been issued, heavy rainfall is likely in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli.

On July 16, only Banaskantha and Sabarkantha are likely to receive heavy rain, while the rest of the state may witness light to moderate showers.

Meanwhile, the IMD stated that the monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Suratgarh, Sikar, Gwalior, Siddhi, Daltonganj, Contai, and extends southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
