NHAI, AMC raze 4 illegal dargahs, other encroachments along Sarkhej-Juhapura highway

Ahmedabad: In a late-night operation on Tuesday, religious structures encroaching on the Sarkhej to Juhapura stretch of the National Highway and adjoining TP roads were removed by a joint team of the National Highway Authority and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), under heavy police security.
The illegal structures that were razed by the authorities included 4 dargahs, a graveyard, a temple, and a shrine (deri). The demolition drive began at 11 PM and was carried out with the help of 2 Hitachi machines, 4 JCBs, 6 dumpers, 2 encroachment vehicles, and 20 labourers.
Officials stated that the removal of religious, commercial, and residential encroachments falling within the road-widening area will continue today as part of the ongoing clearance drive. DeshGujarat
