Gujarat, Rajasthan working on national plan to collect camel milk for medicinal purposes: Amit Shah

Ahmedabad: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah held an interaction with women and other workers involved in cooperative movements from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan as part of the International Cooperative Year celebrations in the city today.

During the event, one of the participants HM Shah spoke with was Miralben Rabari from the Camel Breeder Maldhari Cooperative Society in Kutch. Miralben requested support for chemical testing and research on camel milk.

In response, Mr. Shah informed her that four Ayurvedic companies are currently examining the medicinal properties of camel milk, and one of them has already completed its research. “I have already directed four Ayurvedic companies to conduct research on the medicinal benefits of camel milk, and to determine which properties can be used for specific diseases. Detailed studies are being carried out, and one company has already completed its research,” Shah said.

He further stated that the governments of Gujarat and Rajasthan are working together to formulate a national plan for collecting camel milk from breeders and utilising its medicinal value to fetch better prices.

“I once received a message from Nagaur stating that our camel breeds were on the verge of extinction. At that time, I asked Ayurvedic companies to begin research, and they did. As these studies helps in developing medicine for certain illnesses, it will increase the value of camel milk. And if the price of camel milk rises, it will obviously support the conservation of camel breeds,” he added. DeshGujarat
