Gambhira Bridge collapse: Video shows woman’s heart-wrenching cries for help from Mahisagar River

Vadodara: A devastating tragedy unfolded in the state this morning as the Gambhira Bridge suddenly collapsed, sending multiple vehicles plunging into the swollen Mahisagar River below. Nine people have died in the accident, while nine others have been rescued. Amid the chaos, a video went viral on social media showing a woman crying inconsolably, claiming her loved ones and husband had drowned.

Locals gathered in large numbers at the scene, watching as rescue teams and police carried out search operations in the muddy waters. While some lives were saved, the emotional toll on families—especially on the grieving woman—remains immeasurable.

This was more than just the fall of an old bridge—it marked the collapse of entire families and dreams. For those who witnessed the tragedy firsthand, the sound of her cries may never be forgotten.

Later, the woman was rescued and spoke to the media. She said that she, along with her husband, son, daughter, son-in-law—seven people in total—were traveling to Bagdana in a private car. “Around 7 AM, just as we reached the bridge, a truck came from the opposite direction, and suddenly, the bridge collapsed along with our car. Everything fell straight into the water. I was seated near the trunk, so I broke the glass and managed to escape. However, the car got locked, and a truck fell on top of it. I couldn’t save anyone—including my two-year-old boy and six-year-old girl, who were stuck inside. I kept screaming ‘help, help’ for nearly an hour,” she said. DeshGujarat
