Gauri Vrat Goro begins across Gujarat ; Jaya Parvati Vrat from July 8

Surat: Gauri Vrat (Goro) has kicked off across Gujarat today as per the Gujarati Vikram Samvat calendar. Unmarried females observe Gauri Vrat to wish good husband in future. Gauri Vrat is also known as Aluna vrat as salt is avoided in all foods during this Vrat. In Gauri Vrat which is mainly observed by girls in 6 to 14 age group, salt is not eaten for five days of fast. Goro vrat this year will end on July 10, on which the girls who observed this Vrat would celebrate and wake up through night. The other similar vrat is Jaya Parvati vrat which begins on Tuesday, July 8. It will also be observed for five days. This Vrat begins on Shukla paksh’s Trayodashi tithi in Ashadh month of Gujarati calendar. This Vrat will conclude after five days span on July 12. Unmarried girls observes this Vrat to wish good husband in future, while married women observe this Vrat for happy marriage life and long life of husband. It is believed that the girls who observe this vrat get blessings of Bhagwan Shiv and Devi Parvati. In Gauri Vrat, the girls sow Jawara and worship for five days. The last day of the Vrat is celebrated with Jagran (waking up late till night). The girls on Vrat mainly eat dry fruits during the Vrat period. DeshGujarat
