Palanpur man lures Hindu woman with marriage promise, assaults her, forces her to wear burqa

Palanpur: A married man from Bhagal (J) village in Palanpur taluka allegedly lured a Hindu woman from Palanpur into a relationship under false pretences while selling soap door-to-door. Promising marriage, he took her to a hotel and sexually assaulted her. Later, with the help of his wife and daughter, he allegedly forced the woman to wear a burqa and attempted to convert her religion. He then took her to Unava, where she was confined for four days.
According to Palanpur East Police, the accused — Javed Usmanbhai Muman of Bhagal (J) — had been in contact with the woman for the past nine months. After her family filed a missing person complaint, police tracked her location through mobile surveillance and rescued her from the house in Unava where she was being held.
Javed Muman was produced before a court, which granted three days of police remand. He has now been lodged in sub-jail. DeshGujarat
