Gujarat govt allots 10-acre land to Tata for 500+ homes as Dholera chip plant takes shape

Dholera: As Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL) progresses with its first semiconductor fabrication unit in the Dholera Special Investment Region, located approximately 110 km from Ahmedabad, the Gujarat government has allocated 10 acres of land to the Tata Group for constructing residential apartments for its workforce.

“The state has allotted 10 acres to Tata for a housing project, with plans to initially build over 500 apartments,” said Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat.

Meanwhile, Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd (DICDL) has auctioned additional land to private developers to construct about 1,000 service apartments in the largely uninhabited flat coastal area.

Dholera is set to host at least three semiconductor projects. Among them is a ₹91,000 crore mega semiconductor fabrication facility being built in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), which is expected to generate 20,000 skilled jobs — both direct and indirect — in the region.

According to state authorities, the TEPL facility is expected to be completed by the second quarter of fiscal year 2027–28. DeshGujarat
