FIU conducts flight calibration of Instrument Landing System at Surat Airport
July 02, 2025
Surat: To ensure safe and efficient aircraft operations, periodic inspections are conducted at airports across the country. As part of this routine, the Flight Inspection Unit visited Surat Airport on Tuesday to carry out a thorough evaluation. According to available information, the team conducted the flight calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS).
The inspection comes in the wake of a recent plane crash that occurred after a flight took off from Ahmedabad Airport. Following the incident, airports nationwide are undergoing checks, with special attention given to systems involved in takeoff and landing operations. A dedicated inspection flight arrived in Surat to assess whether any challenges exist during aircraft landings.
The team evaluated the functionality of ground-based navigational aids and visual landing systems used during landing procedures. Additionally, other connected equipment was examined to ensure it is operating correctly. Flight calibration of navigational aids, compliance with operational standards, regular maintenance, and the effectiveness of landing and takeoff operations were all scrutinized.
A detailed report of the findings will be submitted to the Director of Surat Airport and officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI). If any deficiencies are identified during the inspection, corrective measures are expected to be implemented swiftly in the coming days. DeshGujarat
