Ahmedabad: During the ongoing 148th Rath Yatra of Bhagwan Jagannath, Bahen Subhadra, and Bhai Balabhadra in the old city area, two to three elephants went out of control for a while. This incident occurred for the first time during the Rath Yatra and took place near the Khadia intersection. A total of three elephants (Gajrajs) became agitated, causing fear and chaos among the devotees who had gathered to witness the Yatra.
Some devotees were injured in the commotion and were immediately shifted for treatment. Soon, a team including the Zoo Superintendent reached the spot and brought the uncontrollable elephants under control. Fortunately, there were no major injuries or loss of life.
These elephants, one male and two female, were removed from the procession following the incident. After their removal, the Rath Yatra continued with the remaining 14 elephants leading the way.
It is noteworthy that today marks the 148th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, and a total of 17 elephants are leading the procession. DeshGujarat
