Technical glitches at Passport Seva Kendra in Ahmedabad; over 2k applicants affected

Ahmedabad: Around 2,000 passport applicants were unable to submit their documents for renewal or urgent processing on Thursday and Friday due to technical issues at the Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) located at Vijay Cross Road and Mithakali.

On Thursday, the server slowed down significantly, and files submitted after 10:30 am were not processed at the ‘C’ counter for further action by the Regional Passport Office (RPO). As a result, nearly 1,000 applicants faced delays, leaving many who had traveled from far-off areas confused and frustrated.

The problems continued on Friday, with over two-thirds of applicants receiving messages early in the day informing them that their appointments had to be rescheduled due to ongoing technical glitches. The delays have resulted in an increased waiting period. As of now, the earliest available appointment for regular passport applications in Ahmedabad is July 10, meaning a wait of at least 20 days.

Amid growing inconvenience, applicants have demanded that the passport office implement alternative arrangements to ease the backlog.

Meanwhile, in good news for applicants, a new Passport Seva Kendra will soon be inaugurated in Bapunagar, replacing the Mithakali PSK, which will be closed. The new facility is set to have double the capacity, handling up to 1,500 appointments, and is likely to be inaugurated by the start of next month. DeshGujarat
