All sanctuaries, national parks in Gujarat to remain shut for tourists during monsoon
June 12, 2025
Gandhinagar: As in previous years, all sanctuaries and national parks across Gujarat will remain completely closed to tourists during the monsoon season, from June 15 to October 15, 2025, according to an official press release.
In line with the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the Forest Department has announced the closure due to potential risks such as flash floods, cyclones, and poor road conditions caused by heavy rainfall. Additionally, the monsoon coincides with the breeding season of several bird, mammal, and reptile species. To prevent any disturbance to wildlife during this sensitive period, the department has restricted tourist entry into all protected areas.
The Forest Department has clarified that sanctuaries and parks will reopen to tourists on October 16, 2025.
It is also noteworthy that online bookings for these destinations have been suspended on both government and private websites during the closure period. Tourists are advised to take special note of this restriction before planning their travel. DeshGujarat
