Porbandar: A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Ramdevpir Mandap Mahotsav being held at the Chopati Mela Ground in Porbandar, when a decorative mandap suddenly collapsed during its installation. The collapse resulted in the death of one person and injuries to at least 16 others. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The mandap, reportedly around 50 to 55 feet tall, came crashing down during preparations for the religious event. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and Kamla Bagh Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.

The Ramdevpir Mandap Mahotsav was being celebrated with religious fervor at the Chopati Ground. The festival, which had drawn a large gathering of devotees, turned tragic during the auspicious time scheduled for erecting the mandap. As the structure was being raised, it suddenly gave way.

The deceased has been identified as Vanrajbhai Navghanbhai Goraniya, a middle-aged man working as a security guard at the government hospital. He had completed his duty and visited the mandap for darshan when the structure collapsed. He sustained a fatal head injury, leading to his death.

Following the incident, several political leaders, including MLA Arjun Modhwadia, former cabinet minister Babu Bokhiria, and Porbandar District BJP President Dr. Chetanaben Tiwari, visited the injured at the hospital. They inquired about their condition and directed hospital staff to ensure proper medical care. DeshGujarat
