June 03, 2025
Ahmedabad: A Sessions Court in the city has denied bail to Mohammad Murtuza Ali Mohammad Khalil, accused of illegally streaming banned Pakistani news and entertainment channels in India via BOSIPTV and IPTV.
Investigations revealed that the accused created an unauthorized website, bostv.org, offering access to 85,000 channels—including Indian and Pakistani news and entertainment channels—as well as over 29,000 HD movies and more than 3,000 web series. He charged a subscription fee of Rs 150 per month or Rs 400 for three months. It also came to light that over 5 million users accessed content from this illegal website.
Mohammad Murtuza Ali Mohammad Khalil, a resident of Bihar, was arrested by the CID Crime Branch for allegedly inciting people by broadcasting jihadist programs on Pakistani channels and causing financial losses worth crores by violating copyrights of news and entertainment channels. He later applied for bail, claiming he was falsely implicated and had no involvement.
Chief Public Prosecutor Sudhir Brahmabhatt opposed the bail plea, stating that the accused faces serious charges. The probe confirmed that he illegally streamed banned Pakistani channels for a subscription fee, earning lakhs of rupees through pirated content and pay channels. Authorities are still investigating whether he has links to any individuals or organizations in Pakistan.
The authorities seized four mobile phones, three laptops, and a hard disk from the accused. Police also confiscated eight chequebooks, nine debit cards, and five passbooks from him, with ongoing inquiries into possible foreign transactions. There is suspicion that he may have purchased property using illegal funds and could flee if granted bail.
It is also noteworthy that an examination of the accused’s bank transactions showed deposits totaling Rs 43.6 lakh between September 2, 2024, and May 6, 2025, with withdrawals amounting to Rs 43.56 lakh during the same period. Police continue to investigate his financial records. DeshGujarat
