IPL 2025 Final: Airfares to Ahmedabad Soar as Fans Flock for Title Clash

Ahmedabad: The IPL final craze has once again swept the country, with hundreds of passionate cricket fans gearing up to fly to Ahmedabad for the concluding match of IPL 2025. This surge in demand has led to a dramatic spike in airfares, with ticket prices for Ahmedabad-bound flights skyrocketing to nearly 10 times the regular fare.

The final clash for the trophy will be held at the massive 1.3-lakh capacity Narendra Modi Stadium between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. As both teams vie for their maiden title, fans are booking flights to Ahmedabad from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and other cities.

On the Delhi-Ahmedabad route, one-way fares, which usually hover around ₹4,000, have increased manifold. As of now, according to the IndiGo website, fares for flights post-noon today have already reached ₹17,000. On Tuesday, most direct flights are already sold out, and the few remaining are priced close to ₹18,000.

Air India flights are even more expensive, with economy class tickets for Tuesday’s 4:20 PM flight being sold for over ₹24,000, while business class tickets have touched ₹47,000. Furthermore, many flights are already sold out on airline websites.

With Royal Challengers Bangalore making it to the final, fans from Bengaluru are rushing to reach Ahmedabad before the match. Two IndiGo flights—from early morning and afternoon—have seen their fares reach as high as ₹27,000, over five times the usual rate. Akasa Air’s early morning flight from Bengaluru has crossed the ₹18,000 mark, while SpiceJet tickets are selling at over ₹22,000.

Even though the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders, did not make it to the final, cricket lovers from Kolkata are also flying in, contributing to a 150% hike in fares. Normally, round-trip fares between Kolkata and Ahmedabad hover around ₹12,000–₹13,000, but due to limited direct flights—only five a day—tickets from Sunday to Tuesday have surged beyond ₹30,000.

Most economy-class tickets are sold out, leaving only high-priced premium options, according to multiple travel portals.

Similarly, Mumbai, which enjoys strong air connectivity with Ahmedabad, is also seeing a fare surge. One-way fares between the two cities usually range from ₹3,500 to ₹4,000. However, for June 3, Akasa Air’s flights are priced as high as ₹10,000, while early morning IndiGo flights have touched ₹20,000. Air India is on a similar trajectory, with ticket prices exceeding ₹19,500 as of now. DeshGujarat
