Jignesh Mevani again calls for ouster of ‘BJP-aligned’ members from Congress

Gandhinagar: Reiterating his demand to expel party members allegedly aligned with the BJP, Gujarat Congress working president and Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani on Sunday took aim at his party’s leadership.

“Remove those who are not truly with the party. Why tolerate such disgrace? Expel them so the party is cleansed, and we can rebuild it together—especially in Visavadar and Kadi,” Mevani said.

Earlier, just days ago, Mevani had said in a social media post,
“Now even the leaders of other parties are saying that you are full of empty shells. Come on, what are you waiting for? The B-team, the spent cartridges, the people who have a setting with the opposite side, the wedding horses—what’s the pain in removing all of them? If not mine, then at least listen to Rahul ji!”

Meanwhile, the party has distanced itself from Mevani’s “B-team” remarks. Responding to his criticism, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Manish Doshi stated that if he (Mevani) has concerns about the party or its leadership, he should raise them internally. He is a senior leader and the working president. Public statements like these are unhelpful and distract from the goal of strengthening the party—especially during the crucial by-elections in Kadi and Visavadar.

Mevani also reacted strongly to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who had alleged that the Congress in Gujarat serves the BJP instead of the public.

In an X post, Mevani responded, “Kejriwal ji, remember—even though Congress hasn’t formed a government in Gujarat for 25 years, each of our workers has been fighting the BJP in every tehsil, every village. Our workers have been beaten with lathis, faced lawsuits, even gone to jail. Yes, some leaders were sold out—but not the workers.” DeshGujarat
