PM Modi to launch projects worth over ₹52,000 crore from Kutch during Gujarat visit

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a massive development drive in Gujarat during his upcoming visit, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 31 projects worth ₹52,953 crore. The event is scheduled to take place on May 26 in Bhuj, Kutch.

These projects will benefit multiple districts, including Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Ahmedabad, Tapi, and Mahisagar. Of the total, 17 projects worth ₹2,292 crore will be inaugurated, while the foundation stones will be laid for 14 projects worth ₹50,661 crore. The ceremonies will be conducted virtually by the Prime Minister.

Inauguration of key infrastructure worth ₹2,292 crore

Among the inaugurated projects are seven from the Energy and Petrochemical Department, including two major substations in Jamnagar — the 220/66 KV Babarjar substation (₹125 crore) and the 132/66 KV Kansumra substation (₹75 crore). A ₹887 crore 210 MW solar PV project on government wasteland in Babarjar will also be inaugurated.

Other highlights include:

  • ₹46 crore 66 KV HTLS transmission line across Amreli, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath

  • ₹69 crore 11 MW solar PV project in Morbi

  • ₹58 crore 10 MW solar PV project near Manjal, Kutch

  • ₹209 crore 35 MW solar PV project near Lakadia, Kutch

The Roads and Housing Department will inaugurate two roads in Kutch — the ₹55 crore Laija-Motati Kothara (Coastal Highway) and the ₹50 crore Hodko-Dhordo Tent City Road.

Also to be inaugurated are the ₹186 crore Banaskantha-Sankari transmission project and seven projects by the Deendayal Port Authority, including:

  • ₹226 crore Oil Jetty No. 8 at Juna Kandla

  • ₹77 crore storage godown

  • ₹75 crore cargo berth connecting road from Adipur to NH-141

  • ₹100 crore EXIM cargo storage area expansion

  • ₹41 crore container terminal connectivity at Tuna-Tekra

  • ₹6.5 crore residential quarters in Gopalpuri

  • ₹6.5 crore Centre of Excellence at DPA Gandhidham

Foundation stones for mega projects worth ₹50,661 crore

The foundation stone will be laid for a ₹35,000 crore 800 KV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) line from R.E. Park, Khawda to Nagpur, including a 6000 MW terminal station at Khawda. Other major projects include:

  • ₹4,200 crore 765 kV transmission line from Khawda to Vataman and New Navsari

  • ₹350 crore 400/220 KV substation in Mewasa, Kutch

  • ₹390 crore 400/220 KV substation in Dholera, Ahmedabad

  • ₹8,850 crore Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant (Unit 7) at Tapi-Ukai

  • ₹393 crore remodeling of coal handling plant at Ukai

  • ₹85 crore 60 MW hydro plant at Kadana, Mahisagar

  • ₹247 crore underground electricity cable project in Gandhidham

Additional infrastructure works include:

  • ₹43 crore Palanswa-Bhimasar-Hamirpur-Fatehgarh Road

  • ₹40 crore Kodta-Bitta Road

  • ₹60 crore water supply project in Abdasa taluka

From the Deendayal Port Authority, three high-value projects will begin:

  • ₹150 crore 10 MW Green Hydrogen Production Facility

  • ₹400 crore Hyperloop Pod Technology for cargo transport

  • ₹453 crore overbridge and six-lane road upgrade at Kandla

With Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bhuj just days away, the local BJP unit is preparing to welcome him with large-scale celebrations. Rahulbhai Gore, vice president of the Kutch BJP, said a festive atmosphere is building across the district, reflecting pride in Modi’s contributions to national development.

The BJP is planning a 1,000-meter-long tricolor flag salute and has scheduled cluster-wise arrangements for the program. Ward-level meetings will be held on May 23 to boost public participation, while invitation drives will take place across Bhuj markets on May 24. A patriotic music event is also planned near Mahadev Gate on May 25 to mark the occasion.
